Okay. Exactly how weird is it…that I love the characters, love the plot, love the songs, love the merch…and can barely sit through the actual movie. God, it drags. Maybe I’ve just seen it too many times…?
I’ve just heard he sentiments below so many times and I don’t quite get it. I don’t see people wearing Nightmare stuff to be edgy, I see people going on about Tim Burton to be edgy. I’m the first to decry Disney’s overmerchandising of everything, but…eh, I think I’m beginning to talk in circles.
“Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favourite movies, period. However, I sometimes feel like Disney cheapened it quite a bit with its superfluous merchandising. It’s really too bad that this wonderful film has gained the false reputation of being another marketing gimmick for shallow teenagers trying to be “dark” or “edgy”. I try not to let that dictate my enjoyment of the film, but I would still much prefer it if the commercialization never happened.”
